The availability of readily titratable volatile agents in the intensive care unit provides a new avenue for sedation and potential therapeutic intervention.
This workshop will introduce volatile agents from a pharmaceutical perspective, cover titration and administration, and provide clinical scenarios where there may be therapeutic benefit. There will be hands on exposure to a volatile delivery device and its setup in a simulated ventilated patient.
Aimed primarily at non-anaesthetist clinicians and nurses working in critical care, with the intention of providing familiarity and confidence in the use of volatile agents for sedation.
