WESTERN CAPE BRANCH SYMPOSIUM: MOVING FORWARD

Workshop 8 - Dietetics workshop – Biolectrical impendence assessment of body composition

Description: This is an interactive workshop focussing on comprehensive nutrition status assessment techniques. Participants will practice how to conduct bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) and interpret the findings. This will be followed by case study discussions with practical implementation of body composition results to assist with nutrition decision-making. After attending this workshop, participants should be able to conduct BIA assessments, interpret the results and be able to adapt nutrition support accordingly.

Objectives: After this workshop delegates should be able to:

  1. Conduct a bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) on a patient.
  2. Interpret the findings of the BIA analysis.
  3. Adapt management based on the findings.
