With the steady uptake of indirect calorimetry in the critical care environment, the focus of this workshop will be on the practicalities and interpretation of calorimetry data. A basic understanding of the principles of calorimetry will be followed by a live demonstration. Case studies of actual measurements for the purposes of trouble shooting and nutritional optimization will be presented.
